About Stirling
Stirling guarded the lowest crossing of the River Forth, so it was the key to Scotland. William Wallace won the Battle of Stirling Bridge in 1297, and Robert the Bruce won at nearby Bannockburn in 1314.
Stirling Castle was a favourite royal residence, and the town became a city in 2002.
